Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat opened up on Friday about her unfortunate disqualification from the women’s 50kg freestyle final at the Paris Olympics on August 7. In a detailed social media post, shared two days after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) rejected her appeal for a joint silver medal, Vinesh spoke about the heartbreaking turn of events between the night of August 6 and the following morning. She explained that despite their relentless efforts, she and her team ultimately fell short due to the merciless passage of time, leading to her disqualification.
“There is so much more I could say, but words may never fully capture what I feel. Perhaps I’ll share more when the time is right. All I want to convey about the night of August 6 and the morning of August 7 is that we did not give up; our efforts were unwavering, and we did not surrender. But the clock stopped, and time was not on our side,” she expressed in her post.
