Jay Shah was elected unopposed as the independent chair of the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday. The current honorary secretary of the BCCI will officially take on the role starting December 1, 2024. Shah, the sole candidate for the position, expressed his dedication to enhancing cricket’s global presence. He aims to boost the sport’s popularity worldwide, with a particular focus on its upcoming inclusion in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. Shah’s vision includes broadening cricket’s appeal and reach to new audiences, ensuring its growth and development on the international stage.
