Shikhar Dhawan announced his retirement from international and domestic cricket via a social media post on Saturday morning. His last competitive match was in April, where he captained the Punjab Kings in the IPL 2024. Dhawan retires with 24 centuries (17 in ODIs and seven in Tests) from 269 international matches.
“It’s important to turn the page to move forward in life, which is why I’m announcing my retirement from international and domestic cricket,” Dhawan said in a video message. “I leave with peace in my heart, knowing I represented India for so long. I choose to feel joy for having played for my country rather than sadness over not playing anymore.”
