New Zealand’s Hamish Kerr wasn’t interested in making the men’s high jump final another feel-good story of the Olympics. He reportedly told USA’s Shelby McEwen that he was ready to battle it out in a jump-off. Without hesitation, McEwen agreed, knowing there would be only one winner. In the end, it was Kerr who came out on top.
