Germany won the gold in women’s 3×3 basketball at Place de la Concorde in Paris on Monday, August 5. Germany stormed back to beat Spain 17-16, securing the nation’s first-ever basketball gold medal at Paris 2024. Despite trailing for much of the game, Germany took the lead with 7.8 seconds left. Spain had possession, but the German defense prevented the Spaniards from getting close enough for a good shot. As time expired, Germany celebrated their victory.
“Every game was the same. We had so many games where we always stayed together. In the end, we were clutch,” said Germany’s Svenja Brunckhorst.
