Anantjeet Singh Naruka and Maheshwari Chauhan narrowly missed the bronze medal in skeet mixed team shooting:

Indian shooters Anantjeet Singh Naruka and Maheshwari Chauhan finished fourth in the skeet mixed team event at the Paris 2024 Olympics, losing the bronze medal match to China’s Jiang Yiting and Lyu Jianlin with a close score of 44-43.

Competing at Chateauroux, Naruka initially struggled with two missed shots out of eight but rallied to hit 16 consecutive targets. Chauhan performed strongly in the first series but faltered in the subsequent ones, missing key shots. Despite perfect scores in the fifth and sixth series, Lyu Jianlin’s flawless 24/24 ensured China secured the bronze.

In the qualification rounds, Naruka and Chauhan scored a combined 146/150, placing fourth. The Chinese team, with the same score, advanced to the bronze match due to a shoot-off, while Italy led the field with a joint world record score of 149, followed by the USA with 148.

The skeet mixed team event was the final shooting competition at Paris 2024, where the Indian shooting contingent concluded with three medals. Manu Bhaker won bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol event and, alongside Sarabjot Singh, also claimed bronze in the 10m air pistol mixed team event. Swapnil Kusale secured bronze in the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions event.
