
India has advanced to the semi-finals of the Paris 2024 Olympics men’s hockey competition after defeating Great Britain in a shoot-out at the Stade Yves-du-Manoir. This victory puts India just one win away from securing a second successive Olympic medal. In the semi-finals, they will face either Germany or Argentina.
Despite being reduced to 10 men in the 17th minute after Amit Rohidas was sent off, India defied the odds and took the lead through Harmanpreet Singh, who scored his seventh goal of the tournament. Harmanpreet converted a penalty corner in the 22nd minute, but Great Britain’s Lee Morton equalized five minutes later.
The match ended 1-1 after full-time, leading to a tense shoot-out. India emerged victorious, winning 4-2 in the shoot-out, thereby securing their place in the semi-finals.
