Lakshya Sen has secured his spot in the men’s singles quarterfinals at the Paris 2024 Olympics after a significant victory over HS Prannoy. In a highly anticipated all-Indian clash, Sen demonstrated remarkable skill and determination to advance to the last eight, marking a major milestone in his Olympic campaign.

However, the excitement for Indian badminton was tempered by the loss of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty in the men’s doubles quarterfinals. The pair faced Malaysia’s Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik, currently ranked World No. 3. Despite a strong start and winning the first game 21-13, Rankireddy and Shetty faltered as the match progressed. Chia and Soh responded with a powerful performance to claim the second game 21-14 and secured the third game 21-16, ending the Indian duo’s Olympic journey.

The outcomes highlight the intense competition at the Paris Games. While Sen’s advancement to the quarterfinals offers hope for a continued strong showing, Rankireddy and Shetty’s exit marks a poignant moment for Indian badminton, emphasizing both the challenges and the level of skill present at the highest levels of the sport.
